A Wedding Reception Tea is usually a much larger affair than the other Bridal Teas.
It is held much in the same way as a regular wedding reception, except Tea is served.
I suggest serving Tea & Scones first.
Place Teacups & Saucer at each place setting along with a small scone on a dessert plate at each place setting.
Tip: Put a paper doily under the scone!
Place Devonshire Cream, Jams & Lemon Curd in small condiment containers at each table.
Decorate the Bride & Groom’s table with little twinkle lights under netting and gathered up with ribbon along the front.
Have the Teacups & Saucers in many different styles, with the other china being plain white, so the teacups will stand out. Lovely presentation!
Instead of having many teapots placed at the tables for serving the tea, use one in the center with a floral arrangement as the center piece.
Since this is such a large affair, serve only Black or Green Tea. Or Black and a flavored Herbal Tea.
For serving, have the caterers pour a cup of tea for each guest.
During Tea & Scones: Have the initial announcement done at this time:
* Introduction of the New Bride & Groom
* Thank Everyone for Attending
* Have the Mother-of-the-Bride tell a short story of a special Tea Party experience her daughter had as a little girl.
* Offer a prayer for the new couple & a prayer of blessing for the food.
Tip: I would not have the Best Man do his ‘speech’ at this time, as it’s usually done with a toast to the Newly Weds. Wait until the Champaign is served.
After Tea is served, then serve the food.
You may wish to serve only Tea Party Foods. Such as: Tea party sandwiches, small savories, lovely small desserts, etc., or something more substantial!
In the Victorian Era, main-dish entrées were served at High Tea. So what ever you choose it will be fine.
