~ Planning A Tea Party ~ "How Much Will I Need"?





When planning a tea party, have you ever asked yourself "How Much Will I Need"?

Here are a few guides to help you determine "How Much".

How much Beverage Will I Need?

HOT TEA

  • Plan for at least 2 cups of hot tea per person.
  • A standard tea cup holds 6 ounces (a little more than 2/3 of a cup).
  • If using loose leaf tea, use 1 teaspoon per person & 1 “for the pot”.
  • Remember: To consider the time it will take to boil the water, then steep the tea.
PUNCH

  • Plan for at least 2 cups of punch per person.
  • A standard punch cup holds 6 ounces (a little more than 2/3 of a cup).
  • A standard Punch Bowl holds 2 ½ gallons, about 50 servings.

ICED DRINKS (Iced Tea or Lemonade)

  • Using tall 16 oz. Glasses with ice, 5 Gallons of Beverage serves 80 people.
  • Approximately 16 servings per gallon. One gallon = 128 ounces.

{Since we are on the subject of beverages}

COFFEE

  • One pound of coffee = 4 ½ cups of ground coffee.
  • Use 2 cups of ground coffee to serve 30 cups of prepared coffee.
  • Use 3 Ό cups of ground coffee to serve 50 cups of prepared coffee.
  • Remember: It takes approximately 1 hour to brew coffee in a 100 cup coffee urn. It takes approximately ½ hour to brew coffee in a 50 cup coffee urn.

Stand-up Setting

  • Figure 5-6 Sq. ft. per person

Buffet Setting

  • Figure 7-8 Sq. ft. per person

Sit Down Setting (served)

  • (60”) Round tables seat 8, figure 12 Sq. ft. per person
  • If using 8' Banquet tables which seat 8, figure 10 Sq. ft. per person.
