Recapture the fantasy of this beloved fairy tail with a Cinderella Tea Party!
For years little girls have heard the story of their favorite Princess - Cinderella and how she suffered through times of trial to become one of the most memorable symbols of triumph!
Make this a time of enchantment and playing make believe because every little girl dreams of being Cinderella and meeting her Prince Charming!
Request party attire or, if you have the means you can provide each little girl with a Cinderella gown.
I have found a collection of beautiful "Make Believe" party gowns!
I have put them together and offer them to you here
for your convenience. Enjoy shopping!
Decoration:
Spread the tea table with a pastel colored table linen. You may want to place a string of ice-cycle lights around the edge of the table before, draping the table cloth. Be sure the cloth covers the lights. When lit this gives an enchanted effect in a dimly lit room.
Place your royal china out on the table and embellish it with beautiful folded napkins in the shapes of fans or flowers!
Place a string of ivy vines (the ones you took off the palace wall) down the center of the table. Then place flowers amongst the vines. Sprinkle glitter or confetti across the table as a whimsical touch.
A candle-obra would also make a royal statement too. If you don’t have one sitting around in ‘your palace’ then browse through your local thrift store, you will be surprised what you will find. Keep in mind that they are always getting in new items so go back often.
Decorate the chair by draping them with a coordinating fabric or draping just the chair backs. Use netting or a large satin ribbon to tie a large bow in the back. Embellish them with flowers or sparkled picks! You can find the decorative picks at a dollar store or craft store.
If this tea party is for a Birthday, you may wish to decorate only the Birthday Girl's Chair to make her feel like a real Princess!
Menu:
Egg Salad Tea Sandwiches
Cucumber Tea Sandwiches
Muffin Pumpkins
Glass Slipper Sugar Cookies
Fairy Godmother Tea Tarts
Various Teas and Tisanes

with a Tiara ice ring.
Favors:
Place small glass slippers with mints or small candies by each place setting. The glass slippers can be found in the Bridal section of your craft store. (they are really clear plastic)
OR - Place a delicate tiara at each place setting.
Games:
Let’s Go To The Ball!
When Cinderella was preparing to go to the ball her Fairy Godmother sent her into the garden to find all the things she needed.
Before the party, collect and hide all the things Cinderella needs to go the ball:
One fat rat - for the coachman
Four mice - for horses
one large pumpkin - for the coach
a clock - so she can keep track of the time
glass slippers
a royal gown
a doll dressed as a Fairy Godmother
An enchanted wand
Magic dust (glitter)
Etc.
To Play:
Send all the “Cinderella’s” out into the garden to find all the things she will need to get to the Ball!
The one that finds the most things wins.
Note: A great time to collect all the items needed for this game is in the Fall around Halloween time. (rats, pumpkins, etc.) Or you may have them in your Fall & Halloween decorations.
Glass Slipper Relay:
Cinderella must have poise and charm to win the heart of the Prince. So she must practice by balancing something on her head!
Have girls line up. Everyone takes a turn.
Place a “Glass Slipper” on top of her head. (a child’s plastic high-heel slipper)
Have her walk quickly to the Palace (across the room)and back home again with out loosing her glass slipper!
The one who can do this in the least amount of time Gets To Marry The Prince! Or in other words - WINS!
Suggestion: A cute gift for this game would be a Ken doll dressed as Prince Charming.
Story Time!:
Read the magical story of Cinderella or watch the movie. There are several movies of Cinderella, one by Walt Disney of course, one by Rogers and Hammerstein (my favorite), etc.
This would also make an appropriate gift.
Crafts:
Getting Ready For the Ball:
Provide paper grocery bags (1 or 2 per girl), lace, ribbon, bows, scissors, stick glue, etc. Have each one create a Ball Gown of their own. Then have the girls model them just for fun, explaining their creation. Give a small prize to every girl for her creativity and participation.
OR
Have each girl bring her favorite Barbie doll with them. Give them a supply of scrap material, ribbon, lace, safety pins, scissors, etc.
Have them create a Ball Gown for their Barbie! Give a small prize to every girl for her creativity and participation.
Garland Crowns
You’ll need:
Star garland
curling ribbon
Scissors
Instructions:
Cut a two yard piece of star garland. Loop, a circle big enough to fit on top the head.
Go round twice and fasten ends together by twisting them together.
Cut 4 to 6 two yard pieces of curling ribbon. Tie the middle of each piece to the back of the crown. Curl the ribbon with the side of the scissor blade. Let the ribbon curls fall down the back off the crown.
