A Bridal Tea, often called A Bridesmaid’s Tea, is a time for the Bride to acknowledge her bridal party and to thank them for participating in her wedding. The Bride gives a gift of appreciation to each of her Bridesmaids and her Maid of Honor. This would also be a good time to remember the Mother-of-the-Bride with a special gift of appreciation too.
Many Brides give a piece of jewelry, perhaps a necklace or earrings to be worn in the wedding by all.
This is also a perfect time for the Bridesmaids to say their final farewells and give the Bride a personal gift as a group. Perhaps something special for her honeymoon or a piece of jewelry.
Out of town bridal party members? Having a Bridal Tea before the wedding is a wonderful time for everyone to get to know each other.
A Bridal Tea is often hosted by the Bride and the Mother-of-the-Bride. It is a good time to recruit close friends and/or family members to assist. This will ease the burdens for the Bride and her Mother. After all this is a very busy and stressful time for them with planning the wedding and honeymoon. Then all the Bride and her party will have to do is enjoy!
Bride's & Mother-of-the-Bride's Responsibilities:
Order and send out the Bridal Tea Party Invitations
Designate a few family members or friends to set-up for the tea party: Decorating, setting tables & the buffet.
Select someone to see that the food is ordered or prepared. If a family member or a friend volunteers to bring a tray of ‘Tea Party Food’, have the one in charge ask what they are planning on bringing or you could tell them exactly what would be needed. Remember, this is a tea party! You don’t want someone bringing Barbequed wings or Lasagna!
Designate someone to be the server and another to be in charge of pouring the tea.
If planning to have place cards and/or favors. Select someone to over see that they are ordered and/or made. Then placing one at each place setting.
Note: If using place cards, the Bride or her Mother may want to designate where everyone will be seated, So have this person make sure she checks with the Bride or her Mother first before putting the place cards on the tables.
The Bride or mother can select the background music (CDs) and have someone in charge of securing a “working” CD player and overseeing the music during the tea party.
Note: Games or crafts would not be appropriate for a Bridesmaids’ Tea.
